The weather system currently located in the northeastern Arabian Sea has intensified further. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the depression has now strengthened into a deep depression and has the potential to develop into a tropical storm within the next 12 hours.
The PMD reported that the system is positioned about 400 kilometers south of Karachi. Due to its impact, light rainfall is expected in Karachi as well as in several other parts of Sindh. The system is also likely to cause rough sea conditions, with waves becoming stronger and more turbulent.
For Karachi specifically, meteorologists have forecast that the next 24 hours will bring partly cloudy skies and humid weather conditions. Drizzle is also expected in some areas, which could provide temporary relief from the prevailing heat.
In addition, the PMD stated that the maximum temperature in Karachi is expected to reach 36 degrees Celsius, while humidity levels have already reached around 81 percent. This combination of high temperature and humidity could lead to uncomfortable and muggy weather for residents.
Authorities have also advised caution for fishermen and coastal communities, urging them to avoid unnecessary sea travel during this period. The PMD emphasized that safety measures should be strictly followed in view of the heightened risk of stormy sea conditions.
