Former Chief Minister of the Indian state of Maharashtra and senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan has admitted that India suffered a complete defeat on the aerial front on the very first day of Operation Sindoor.
Addressing a press conference, Prithviraj Chavan said that on May 7, several Indian Air Force fighter jets were shot down during just half an hour of aerial combat. He added that Indian aircraft were subsequently grounded due to the threat of retaliatory strikes by the Pakistan Air Force.
He stated that following this incident, the Indian government launched fake encounters under the name ‘Operation Mahadev’ in an attempt to conceal the failure of Operation Sindoor. Prithviraj Chavan reaffirmed his stance and categorically refused to issue any apology.
His remarks have triggered intense political turmoil in India, with strong reactions emerging from political circles and heightened controversy at the government level.
