Terrorism originating from Afghanistan has increasingly become a grave and persistent threat to international security. Afghan nationals have been found involved in terrorism, drug trafficking, and other criminal activities across various countries, raising significant global concerns. In this context, another Afghan citizen linked to terrorism has been arrested in Canada.
According to the Afghan daily Hasht-e-Subh, Canadian police have detained 26-year-old Afghan national Waleed Khan in Toronto on charges related to terrorist activities and alleged connections with the extremist organization ISIS. Reports indicate that the suspect not only provided financial support and social media accounts to ISIS but was also involved in planning murders and other criminal conspiracies.
Investigations reveal that Waleed Khan collaborated with unidentified individuals to carry out multiple terror-related crimes. Heavy weapons and ammunition were recovered from his possession at the time of arrest, further highlighting the severity of his activities.
A day earlier, Austrian authorities had arrested an Afghan asylum seeker on drug-related charges and later deported him to Afghanistan. Experts state that under the Taliban regime, unchecked and expanding terrorist groups have become a significant challenge for countries worldwide, while the continued drug production inside Afghanistan further threatens global stability.
