Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the Sindh government is firmly committed to transforming Karachi into not only the most developed city of Sindh but also the most modern city in Pakistan. He stated that the development of Karachi remains the government’s top priority and that all relevant departments are working tirelessly to achieve this goal.
The minister explained that comprehensive planning is underway in key sectors such as infrastructure, education, health, and other essential areas to turn Karachi into a modern, sustainable, and inclusive city. He emphasized that improving urban facilities is a core component of the government’s development strategy.
Sharjeel Inam Memon further stated that an investment of Rs194 billion has already been made to improve roads and traffic infrastructure in Karachi. Major projects, including the Shahrah-e-Bhutto Corridor, Malir River Bridge, and several underpasses and flyovers, are currently under construction, which will help ease traffic congestion and improve mobility for citizens.
He added that work on major development projects in Karachi will begin by March, with strict adherence to quality standards and timelines. According to him, Rs300 billion has been allocated for the expansion of nine district headquarters hospitals and the establishment of new medical colleges in Karachi and other major cities, while Rs155.34 billion has been earmarked for BRT projects, including the Red, Yellow, and Orange Lines.
The Sindh information minister said the government wants citizens to feel the real impact of development in their daily lives. Every project and every rupee spent is aimed at bringing convenience, improvement, and prosperity to the people.
He concluded by stating that the comprehensive development strategy for Karachi focuses on sustainable infrastructure, quality education, improved healthcare services, modern mass transit systems, clean water supply, and safe housing.
