Karachi: Pakistan has granted permission to Bangladesh’s national airline to operate direct flights, marking a significant development in air connectivity between the two countries.
According to sources, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority has allowed Bangladesh’s national airline to operate direct flights from Dhaka to Karachi, a move expected to provide greater convenience to passengers.
Sources said that following formal approval from the federal government, the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority granted permission to the Bangladeshi airline to operate direct flights, completing the required regulatory process.
According to the sources, the national airline of Bangladesh has initially been allowed to operate flights until March 30, 2026, and has also been permitted to use Pakistan’s airspace along the approved routes.
Civil Aviation Authority sources stated that the Bangladeshi national airline will be required to operate strictly on designated routes within Pakistan’s airspace, while complete flight details must be provided to the Karachi airport administration before departure from Dhaka.
Sources from the civil aviation authorities further said that direct flights between Pakistan and Bangladesh are expected to commence later this month, which is likely to strengthen travel and trade ties between the two countries.
