Protests against rising inflation and the continuous decline in the value of the currency have spread to multiple cities across Iran, with at least six people killed in violent clashes, further escalating tensions in the country.
According to Iranian media, clashes erupted between protesters and security forces in the cities of Lorestan, Fasa, and Azna. In several cities, angry demonstrators attempted to storm government buildings and made efforts to set police stations on fire.
Reports said that security forces used aerial firing, rubber bullets, and tear gas to disperse the protesters, which further intensified the unrest in several areas.
Iranian media reported that clashes between protesters and security forces resulted in the deaths of six people, including one security personnel, while many others were injured and shifted to medical facilities. Police have also arrested several individuals involved in rioting and vandalism.
According to the reports, the protests are being carried out by citizens against soaring inflation and the rapidly falling value of the national currency. What began as demonstrations in the capital, Tehran, has now spread to other cities across the country.
It is worth recalling that due to Western sanctions, the Iranian rial has been facing a continuous decline, leading to a sharp rise in inflation and increasing economic hardship for the general public.
