Record-breaking snowfall has been reported in Russia’s capital, Moscow, as the city remains gripped by extreme cold and persistent winter conditions. According to international media reports, several feet of snow have accumulated across the city, significantly disrupting daily life and public services.
Media sources stated that Moscow has experienced its fifth most severe snowfall in 146 years during the current month, marking an extraordinary weather event in the city’s climatic history. Over the weekend, city authorities were forced to clear more than one million cubic meters of snow in an effort to keep major roads, highways, and key routes partially operational.
Due to the intense cold and heavy snowfall, Moscow’s transportation system has come under severe strain, with delays reported in road traffic, rail services, and air travel. In addition, residents are facing growing difficulties in carrying out routine activities, while offices, educational institutions, and commercial operations have also been affected.
According to weather reports, temperatures in Moscow dropped to minus 9 degrees Celsius today, and meteorologists have warned that further snowfall is expected in the coming days, raising concerns that the harsh winter conditions may intensify further.
