The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to auction fancy vehicle number plates bearing the names of President Asif Ali Zardari, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the founder of PTI, and several other prominent political and national figures, aiming to generate significant revenue for the provincial exchequer while offering unique choices to vehicle owners.
Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Fakhr Jahan, while speaking to the media, stated that the auction of fancy and unique choice number plates linked to political and national personalities will be held on January 27 at Nishtar Hall in Peshawar. Vehicle owners will be able to participate in the bidding process to acquire number plates featuring the names of their preferred personalities.
According to Fakhr Jahan, the bidding for fancy number plates will begin at Rs 1 million, and the highest bidder will be awarded the number plate of their chosen political or national figure.
He added that in later phases, number plates named after other national leaders, well-known personalities, regions, and ethnic groups will also be included in the auction process to expand the scope of available options.
The provincial minister noted that vehicle owners are showing strong interest in this initiative, and the auction is expected to bring substantial financial benefits to the national treasury. He further revealed that citizens have already started submitting applications for unique number plates through the Dastak mobile application.
According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise and Taxation Department, an official advertisement regarding the auction of fancy number plates has been issued, and interested applicants can submit their requests through the Dastak app. The deadline for submitting applications has been set for January 26, 2026.
