Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has urged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to withdraw its call for a wheel-jam strike scheduled for February 8, stating that the province cannot afford chaos, unrest, or violent confrontations.
Addressing a ceremony in Korangi, Nasir Hussain Shah said that PTI should immediately reconsider its decision, as such a strike could worsen the situation and create serious difficulties for ordinary citizens as well as the party’s own workers. He emphasized that actions leading to instability and disorder are unacceptable under any circumstances.
The provincial minister alleged that PTI was attempting to recreate incidents similar to those of May 9, adding that such tactics would not succeed. He remarked sarcastically that if this approach continued, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf would eventually be turned into “PTI-P” by public reaction.
Nasir Hussain Shah further stated that the Sindh government had provided full protocol to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi during his visit, ensuring he was taken to all locations he wished to visit. He added that permission was also granted for a rally at Bagh-e-Jinnah, but the event contributed to unnecessary tension in Karachi.
Commenting on the debate over new provinces, the Sindh minister dismissed such statements as mere political rhetoric and reiterated that Sindh would not be divided under any circumstances.
He also highlighted that the newly established NADRA center would benefit thousands of citizens, as obtaining identity cards has become a challenging process for the public.
Nasir Hussain Shah said that the Pakistan Peoples Party had carried out extensive development work in Korangi, while the Sindh government was also empowering women by providing pink scooters along with proper training programs.
