There is a possibility of rainfall in different parts of the country as a new system of westerly winds is expected to enter Pakistan from tomorrow.
According to the Meteorological Department, a rain-bearing weather system approaching from the west will move into the country, with noticeable effects likely in upper Punjab and western regions.
The department stated that rainfall is expected in upper Punjab, while parts of western Pakistan may also receive showers. Meanwhile, cold weather and fog are expected to persist in the plains; however, the upcoming rainfall may help reduce the intensity of smog and fog in several areas.
Rain is also expected in Murree and the Galiyat region, which could temporarily increase the cold conditions in these hilly areas. Meteorological experts have clarified that no unusual or historically severe cold wave is expected across the country between January 16 and January 25.
Director General of Meteorology Irfan Virk said that westerly winds will enter Pakistan next week, and following the rainfall, a noticeable improvement in smog and fog conditions is expected. He added that the Meteorological Department is closely monitoring the situation and will issue timely updates if there are any significant changes.
