The ongoing M-Tag campaign for vehicles in the federal capital, Islamabad, has entered its final phase, with only one day remaining before the deadline expires. Authorities have urged citizens to ensure that their vehicles are fitted with M-Tags within the given timeframe to avoid legal action.
Earlier, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had announced that vehicles without M-Tags would not be allowed to enter Islamabad from January 1. However, keeping public convenience in view, the deadline for installing M-Tags was later extended until January 15.
According to the administration, more than 150,000 vehicles have already been issued M-Tags at 16 designated centers across Islamabad. In the last 24 hours alone, M-Tags were issued to an additional 2,965 vehicles, reflecting growing compliance by vehicle owners.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Memon has confirmed that the grace period for M-Tag installation will officially end on January 15. He stated that enforcement actions against vehicles without M-Tags will begin immediately after the deadline.
He further added that modern M-Tag readers have been installed at 12 major entry points and checkpoints of the city to identify non-compliant vehicles. Citizens have been advised to get M-Tags installed on their vehicles by the deadline to avoid inconvenience and penalties.
