The deadline for installing M-Tags on vehicles in the federal capital, Islamabad, is set to expire on January 15, after which strict enforcement measures will be initiated against vehicles without valid tags, according to the district administration.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon has urged citizens to ensure that M-Tags are installed on their vehicles by the final deadline to avoid legal action. He stated that the initiative aims to improve traffic management and enhance security across the city.
The deputy commissioner revealed that more than 150,000 vehicles have already been issued M-Tags through 16 designated centers operating across Islamabad. In the last 24 hours alone, 2,965 vehicles were tagged, indicating a significant surge in public compliance ahead of the deadline.
He further warned that once the deadline passes, authorities will begin taking action against untagged vehicles without exception. To facilitate enforcement, electronic readers have been installed at 12 major entry points and checkpoints across the city to detect vehicles lacking M-Tags.
The administration has advised residents not to wait until the last moment and to complete the tagging process promptly to avoid inconvenience, penalties, or disruptions during travel within the capital.
