Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai has strongly condemned the suicide terrorist attack at a mosque in Islamabad, describing it as a grave crime against humanity. She expressed heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic incident.
In her message, Malala Yousafzai stated that it is deeply alarming that people are no longer safe even in places of worship. She termed the attack on worshippers and civilians a horrific and cowardly act, adding that such violence goes against humanity, faith, moral values, and the collective conscience of the nation, affecting society as a whole.
She further said that she prays for lasting peace in Pakistan and hopes that the country is freed from such brutal acts of terrorism.
It is pertinent to note that a suicide bombing at the Khadijat-ul-Kubra Mosque and Imambargah in the Tarlai area of Islamabad resulted in the martyrdom of 32 people, while more than 150 others sustained injuries. According to investigation sources, the suicide bomber’s identity card was recovered from the site, leading to the identification of the attacker as Yasir.
Police sources confirmed that a raid was conducted at the attacker’s residence in Peshawar, during which his two brothers and a woman were arrested, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
