Law enforcement agencies conducted joint operations in the federal capital Islamabad and several other districts, arresting 83 Afghan nationals residing illegally. According to security officials, the actions were taken in line with security concerns and legal requirements.
Authorities stated that screening and verification of residential records of the detained Afghan nationals are underway to determine their legal status. Operations were carried out in Islamabad as well as in Rawalpindi, Attock, Murree, Jhelum, and Chakwal.
Security officials added that action was also taken against violations of tenancy laws, and investigations into suspected activities are ongoing.
Officials further stated that operations related to the arrest of proclaimed offenders and recovery of narcotics and weapons are also part of the ongoing crackdown.
The operations involved police, women police personnel, rangers, elite police sections, the Dolphin Squad, and Counter Terrorism Department officials. Authorities emphasized that action against unregistered Afghan nationals will continue without discrimination.
