The Government of Pakistan has imposed a nationwide ban on flying drones. According to the Ministry of Interior, no commercial or private drones will be allowed to operate anywhere in the country. The decision has been taken in view of prevailing security concerns.
A notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad states that the ban on drone flights has come into immediate effect and strict legal action will be taken against violators. Authorities say the step was necessary given the current security situation.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has also directed that in case of recovery of any suspicious drone or device, the concerned area should be immediately cordoned off. Only bomb disposal units or trained personnel will be allowed to handle such suspicious material.
The Balochistan government stated that the decision was made due to concerns about potential disruptions to law and order.
In Dera Ghazi Khan and Neelum Valley, Section 144 has been imposed and the use of drone cameras has been banned due to security concerns. Meanwhile, in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a one month ban has been imposed on double riding on motorcycles to maintain law and order.
