Senior Sindh Minister and Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced that all educational institutions in the province will remain closed from March 16 to March 31, while around 60 percent of government vehicles will remain off the roads for the next two months as part of cost-saving and energy conservation measures.
Speaking at a press conference after the provincial cabinet meeting, Sharjeel Inam Memon said that several important decisions were taken during the meeting aimed at improving governance and social welfare in the province.
He stated that the cabinet approved the Sindh Agriculture Women Workers Rules, under which female agricultural workers will receive equal wages and maternity-related facilities to ensure better protection and rights for women working in the agricultural sector.
The provincial minister also announced that for the first time in Pakistan, a mobile application and digital dashboard have been approved to monitor student attendance more effectively.
Through this system, authorities will be able to track student attendance, enrollment data, and other academic records, which will also help reduce school dropout cases.
According to Sharjeel Memon, the new digital monitoring system will be implemented in all schools across Sindh within the next year and is being described as a major reform initiative by the Sindh Education Department.
