The United Nations Security Council is expected to vote today on a new resolution concerning the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, aimed at reducing tensions in the region.
The draft resolution calls on Iran to stop attacks on vessels and refrain from any attempts to disrupt navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring the continuity of global maritime traffic.
Sources indicate that the clause related to the use of force has been removed from the revised draft, and the vote is expected to take place at 8 PM Pakistan time.
Meanwhile, the United States appears unable to end Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz despite its claims and warnings, as the closure of this key waterway continues to severely impact global shipping.
Defense experts state that Iran does not rely solely on a traditional naval fleet to control the Strait, but instead uses a multi-layered defense strategy, including mobile missile batteries along its coastline, fast attack boats, naval mines, and suicide drones capable of tracking and targeting vessels from the air.
