Russia and China have vetoed a resolution presented in the United Nations Security Council regarding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, preventing the resolution from being adopted.
According to Arab media reports, a Security Council meeting was held to vote on Bahrain’s proposed resolution aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz, where member states expressed their positions.
The resolution received 11 votes in favor; however, Russia and China exercised their veto power to block it, while Pakistan and Colombia did not participate in the voting process.
Media reports stated that if the resolution had been approved, member states would have been authorized to take necessary measures to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, but the veto has eliminated that possibility.
