Two additional polio cases have been reported from the regions of Bannu and North Waziristan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, bringing the total number of polio cases in Pakistan this year to three.
The National Institute of Health laboratory has confirmed the presence of the wild poliovirus in both children, including a 5-month-old infant and a 2-year-old girl, with health authorities closely monitoring their condition.
Earlier this year, the first polio case was reported from Sujawal district in Sindh, and the emergence of new cases has raised concerns while highlighting the importance of ongoing polio eradication efforts.
