The US State Department has approved the sale of advanced weapons to Saudi Arabia worth approximately $1.96 billion.
According to a news agency, the approval was confirmed in a press release issued by the US State Department on Wednesday.
The department said the proposed arms sale would support US foreign policy and national security objectives.
It added that the agreement would help strengthen the defensive capabilities of Saudi Arabia, a key US ally in the region.
According to the report, the package includes advanced precision-guided weapon systems along with related military equipment.
