According to British news sources, a tragic incident occurred on Wednesday night in a northwestern region of China, where a gas explosion in a barbecue restaurant resulted in the loss of 31 lives.
Authorities have confirmed that the explosion in the restaurant was caused by an LPG gas leak. As a result of the blast, the restaurant’s windows shattered, and seven individuals were also injured from the subsequent collapse and debris. They are currently receiving medical treatment.
Media reports state that this incident took place at the renowned Barbecue Restaurant in the Yinchuan area, which is known for its popularity among diners. The explosion occurred during peak hours when the restaurant was crowded with customers, including students and senior citizens who were among the fatalities.
In response to the incident, the President of China has taken note of the situation and instructed for every possible facility to be provided for the treatment of the injured. Furthermore, he has ordered for stricter safety measures to be implemented.
Despite efforts to enhance safety regulations in China, gas leaks and chemical explosions have unfortunately been recurring incidents. Prior to this incident, in 2015, a gas explosion in the coastal city of Tianjin claimed the lives of 173 people.
