The Supreme Court constituted a seven-member larger bench to hear the case of lifetime disqualification of parliamentarians under Article 62 One F.
Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa will head this seven-member larger bench.
The Supreme Court will hear the lifelong disqualification case on January 2, 2024.
On the previous hearing, the Supreme Court had decided to hear all the petitions related to Article 62-1F of lifelong disqualification.
The Supreme Court’s written order had said that the cases questioning the period of disqualification should be fixed at the beginning of January, the pendency of the case not being used to delay the election.
The order said that the Additional Attorney General pointed out that a minimum five-member bench is necessary for a case involving a constitutional question.
According to the decree, the lawyers of the parties have said that the decision of this court is necessary before the general elections regarding the determination of the period of disqualification.
