ISLAMABAD: Despite the implementation of all IMF conditions by Pakistan, the staff level agreement could not be finalized yet. The Ministry of Finance has also admitted that no progress has been made in the negotiations so far.
According to Pakistan Alerts, virtual talks were held between IMF and Pakistan today. The economic team of the Ministry of Finance participated in the talks. The IMF mission has been informed about the increase in gas and electricity prices.
In the mini-budget, measures have been taken in advance, including the imposition of a tax of Rs.170. Data related to FBR and SROs has also been shared.Documents are also being shared with the IMF mission. After the preliminary steps, a formal staff level agreement was negotiated.
The IMF mission has been assured of getting funds from friendly countries. Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies was negotiated.After signing the staff level agreement, it will be sent to the IMF Executive Board.
