A terrorist attempt to target the Gumbila police station in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was successfully foiled.
According to police, 10 to 12 armed terrorists tried to storm the station by taking positions around it, but the alert police force responded promptly, forcing the attackers to retreat.
Police officials confirmed that all personnel at the Gumbila station remained safe and there were no casualties in the attack. A search operation was launched immediately after the incident to trace the escape routes of the terrorists.
Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Zulfiqar Hameed, praised the Lakki Marwat police for thwarting the attack and lauded the bravery and vigilance of the officers. He reiterated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police remain committed to protecting citizens and defeating the plots of anti-peace elements.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bannu, Sajjad Khan, also appreciated the timely and effective action of the force, stating that such incidents cannot demoralize the police but further strengthen their resolve against terrorism.
Meanwhile, residents and community leaders expressed satisfaction over the police’s courage and praised the role of law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace.
