Dark clouds once again blanketed several areas of Karachi, bringing light showers that made the weather pleasant. Localities including Gulshan-e-Maymar, Ahsanabad, and Orangi Town experienced overcast skies, while cool winds further enhanced the atmosphere.
The Meteorological Department had earlier forecast that heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds would hit Karachi starting this afternoon. According to spokesperson Anjum Nazir Zigham, rainfall today could be more intense compared to yesterday, raising concerns of potential urban flooding in the city.
Chief Meteorologist Karachi, Amir Haider Laghari, stated that wind circulation is active around the rain system, which could cause stronger-than-usual winds during showers. He added that the current monsoon spell is expected to weaken from late tonight and may gradually end by Friday morning.
He further explained that the sky is likely to remain fully overcast on Friday and Saturday, while it could be partly cloudy on Sunday and Monday. Due to the lingering effects of the monsoon system, moderate weather conditions are expected in Karachi for the coming days.
It is worth mentioning that heavy rain yesterday disrupted daily life across many parts of the city, with waterlogging on roads severely affecting traffic flow. Today, the minimum temperature was recorded at 28°C, while the maximum is expected to reach around 31°C. However, high humidity levels have caused significant discomfort among citizens.
