Rains triggered by the monsoon season have caused widespread destruction in the northern regions of India, prompting the government to issue an emergency alert.
As a result of the rains, the states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand have experienced serious challenges. Within the state of Punjab in India, twelve districts have been negatively impacted by flooding that has affected hundreds of homes and roads.
Over a hundred and fifty thousand people have been impacted in the state of Punjab in India, crops have been flooded, and the water levels in the Ravi, Sutlej, and Beas rivers have significantly surpassed the limits that are considered to be dangerous.
It has been determined that Himachal Pradesh is a region that is prone to natural disasters; over 320 people have lost their lives in Himachal Pradesh as a result of various incidents. The water level in the Yamuna River in Delhi has risen to a point where it exceeds the danger mark.
As a result of the rains, low-lying areas in Delhi have been submerged, and schools and offices have also been shut down by the government. Chandigarh’s Sukhna Lake has had its floodgates opened, allowing for heavy rains. The city of Gurugram and the state of Haryana both received over a hundred millimeters of precipitation throughout the day.
