PTI submits constitutional petition to Supreme Court against cancellation of elections. The Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been instructed to set a date for elections.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has submitted a constitutional petition to the Supreme Court challenging the cancellation of elections. The petition requests that the Supreme Court declare the Election Commission’s decision of March 22 as unconstitutional.
The request also asks for legal action to be taken against the Prime Minister, Chief Election Commissioner, and Mohsin Naqvi for contempt of court. The Chief Secretary of Punjab and the Provincial Chief Minister are also named as respondents in the petition.
PTI has taken the position that the Prime Minister, Chief Election Commissioner, and Mohsin Naqvi have failed to fulfill their responsibilities and are issuing funds for personal purposes. The petition states that funds are also being issued for development projects during the caretaker government. The Prime Minister and federal ministers have previously made statements about the possibility of the elections not taking place, which are recorded on record.
According to the petition, the Prime Minister and other parties are committing contempt of court by not implementing the court’s orders regarding the elections. The Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been instructed to set a date for elections.
