Pakistan and China have agreed to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and further strengthen bilateral security cooperation in order to promote peace and stability in the region.
A joint communiqué has been issued following the seventh Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue, which was co-chaired in Beijing by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
According to the joint communiqué, Ishaq Dar visited China from January 3 to January 5 at the invitation of the Chinese government. During the talks, both sides emphasized peace in South Asia, opposed unilateral actions, and stressed the resolution of disputes through peaceful means, while also reaffirming the importance of United Nations resolutions for a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir issue.
The communiqué stated that Pakistan reaffirmed its full support for China under the One China policy on issues related to Taiwan, Xinjiang, Tibet, Hong Kong, and the South China Sea, while China reiterated its strong support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and its fight against terrorism.
According to the statement, the dialogue included detailed discussions on Pakistan-China relations, defense and security cooperation, trade, investment, and people-to-people contacts. Both sides agreed to enhance strategic communication and further strengthen mutual trust and also announced the launch of celebrations to mark 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2026.
The joint communiqué further said that Pakistan and China agreed to pass on their friendship from generation to generation and explore new areas of cooperation, while reaffirming their iron brotherhood and all-weather strategic partnership.
It added that Pakistan appreciated China’s development achievements and modernization model, while both sides agreed to maintain a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and further enhance bilateral security cooperation. The two countries also agreed to expand cooperation in CPEC Phase Two, agriculture, minerals, and Gwadar Port.
Pakistan and China also agreed to advance cooperation in the space sector and discussed the expected participation of Pakistani astronauts at the Chinese space station.
