The joint session of Parliament will be held today, with parliamentary sources confirming that the Pakistan Peoples Party has decided to participate in the session. Important legislation is expected to be taken up during the sitting.
According to sources, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (N) and its coalition partner, the Pakistan Peoples Party, were previously not on the same page regarding legislation in the joint session. However, following consultations, the outstanding issues have now been resolved.
Parliamentary sources said that matters were finalized after consultations involving Federal Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Naveed Qamar, Ejaz Jakhrani, and other leaders. PPP members also held discussions in Senator Sherry Rehman’s chamber at Parliament House.
Sources further revealed that the Pakistan Peoples Party has reservations over several proposed bills, including the Danish Schools bill, which are likely to be discussed during the session. Meanwhile, MQM lawmakers are expected to meet Rana Sanaullah to consult on the proposed legislation.
