Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the issuance of interest-free loans for the expansion of residential houses across the province. The initiative aims to provide financial support to families living under the joint family system to help them extend their existing homes.
The approval was granted during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz regarding the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar project. The meeting approved the provision of interest-free loans specifically for house extensions, allowing families living in joint households to benefit from the scheme.
During the meeting, a target was set to construct 160,000 houses by June 2026. Approval was also granted for the allotment of 1,531 residential plots under the Apni Zameen Apna Ghar scheme.
Officials informed the meeting that 53,843 houses are currently under construction across Punjab under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar project. Additionally, record interest-free loans amounting to Rs 164.66 billion have already been disbursed under the scheme across the province.
