Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has stated that the inquiry report into the Gul Plaza incident could be released at any time, adding that if the findings are not satisfactory, the Sindh government will immediately order a judicial inquiry. He emphasized that no negligence would be tolerated in this matter.
Speaking during a television program, Sharjeel Inam Memon said that strict action would be taken against anyone found responsible in the inquiry report, ensuring that accountability is enforced without discrimination.
He further stated that the Sindh government plans to reconstruct Gul Plaza and will ensure that the same number of shops are rebuilt as existed previously. According to him, the reconstruction process is expected to take at least two years and will be carried out under a well-structured plan.
The provincial minister added that the Karachi Chamber, in coordination with the government, is engaging with market associations regarding the implementation of standard operating procedures. He warned that markets failing to comply fully with safety SOPs will be shut down to prevent future incidents.
Sharjeel Inam Memon said that traders affected by the incident will be shifted to shops in nearby plazas on a temporary basis, stressing that the government’s top priority is to safeguard human lives and ensure the rehabilitation of affected traders.
