Most parts of the country are currently experiencing a heatwave, but the Meteorological Department has indicated the possibility of rain in the upper central regions of the country during the past week.
According to the Meteorological Department, most regions of the country will remain intensely hot and dry. However, there is a chance of rain in some areas, including northeastern and central Balochistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, southern Punjab, and the Pothohar region, along with gusty winds in these regions.
Western winds will enter the upper and central regions of the country starting today. From May 22nd to May 26th, there is a possibility of gusty winds and rain with thunderstorms in most parts of Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Rain is also expected in Islamabad, Murree, Abbottabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, and other areas, with the possibility of hailstorms in some places during this period.
The Meteorological Department has suggested that the rainfall may reduce the intensity of the ongoing heatwave in the country and has directed all relevant departments to remain alert due to the risk of damage to standing crops and weak structures.
According to the Meteorological Department, the highest temperature was recorded in Jacobabad, where it reached 49 degrees Celsius, followed by Sehwan at 48 degrees Celsius. Dadu, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, Khairpur, and Larkana recorded a temperature of 46 degrees Celsius, setting a new record.
