Lahore High Court has withdrawn the stay order on the elections of the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The court has also ordered the case to be heard by Justice Shahid Karim.
Justice Anwar Hussain conducted the hearing of the case regarding the suspension of PCB Chairman elections.
The government lawyer informed the court that similar requests are already under hearing with Justice Shahid Karim, and this request should also be sent to him for hearing.
The government lawyer requested that since Justice Shahid Karim has not issued a stay order on such a request, the stay order should be withdrawn.
The petitioner, Malik Zulfiqar’s lawyer, Ms. Nida Kafil, presented arguments stating that the Board of Governors was removed from their positions by the PCB Election Commissioner with the approval of the Management Committee. The PCB Election Commissioner declared the notification of the Board of Governors null and void and formed a new Interim Board of Governors through illegal actions.
They requested the court to declare the PCB Election Commissioner’s act of forming a new Board of Governors as unconstitutional and to issue an order to stop PCB elections until a judicial decision is made.
