Karachi: Despite the intense heat, both scheduled and unscheduled load shedding continues in Karachi.
Various parts of the city, including Old City Area, Garden West, Allah Wala Town, Korangi, Nishtar Road, Jahangir Road, Liaquatabad, Malir, and others, are experiencing power outages late at night. K-Electric has continued these late-night power cuts despite directives from the Sindh government.
The situation has worsened as power cuts have become routine from 2 AM onwards, while load shedding during the day extends up to 10 hours.
In response to the prolonged power outages, citizens staged a protest late at night. Protesters blocked Nishtar Road by burning tires, and some threw stones at the police, causing damage to a police vehicle.
The police intervened by using baton charges, shelling, and firing to disperse the crowd and reopen the road.
Residents expressed frustration, stating that even with regular load shedding, electricity is still cut off at night.
