The Islamabad High Court has declared the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sanam Javed illegal and disposed of the petition for her release.
The hearing of the petition filed by Sanam Javed’s father was presided over by Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb. Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan and Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq, the lawyer representing Sanam Javed’s father, appeared before the court. During the hearing, Sanam Javed was present in the courtroom.
The Attorney General stated before the court that Sanam Javed would not be arrested in any further cases and that the Balochistan police were not pressing for a transit remand. He confirmed that Sanam Javed is now free and can return to her province. In response, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb remarked that he had seen on the internet that Sanam Javed had used very inappropriate language. He asked the petitioner’s lawyer if he could guarantee that Sanam Javed would not use inappropriate language in the future. Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq responded affirmatively, assuring that Sanam Javed would refrain from using inappropriate language henceforth.
Subsequently, the Islamabad High Court declared Sanam Javed’s arrest illegal and disposed of the petition for her release.
It is noteworthy that on July 15, the Islamabad High Court had ordered that PTI leader Sanam Javed should not be arrested until Thursday (today) and allowed her to return home.
