Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has announced that Pakistan is fully prepared to host the Champions Trophy. The National Stadium Karachi will be inaugurated on February 11, with President Asif Zardari attending the ceremony.
In his statement, Mohsin Naqvi revealed that the grand opening ceremony of the National Stadium will feature performances by renowned singers Ali Zafar, Sahir Ali Bagga, and Shafqat Amanat, along with a spectacular fireworks display.
Meanwhile, Punjab’s Sports Minister Faisal Khokhar met with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to discuss the arrangements for the Champions Trophy.
During the meeting, Faisal Khokhar congratulated Mohsin Naqvi on the record-time renovation of Gaddafi Stadium. The PCB Chairman assured the Punjab government of full cooperation in promoting sports at all levels.
Punjab’s Sports Minister emphasized that his objective is to promote cricket at every level with the support of PCB.
It is worth mentioning that the Champions Trophy will kick off on February 19 with a match between Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi.
Eight teams will participate in the tournament, including Pakistan, India, Australia, England, South Africa, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and New Zealand. All India’s matches will be played at a neutral venue in Dubai.
