The International Cricket Council (ICC) has appointed former Pakistan cricket team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed as an ambassador for the Champions Trophy 2025.
With just one week left until the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, the ICC has officially announced its ambassadors.
The ambassadors include Sarfaraz Ahmed, who led Pakistan to victory in the 2017 Champions Trophy, along with Australia’s Shane Watson, India’s Shikhar Dhawan, and New Zealand’s Tim Southee.
These ambassadors, all former Champions Trophy participants, will provide exclusive insights to fans through guest columns, match attendance, and personal reflections throughout the tournament.
The top eight teams in the tournament will compete for the prestigious white jackets.
Recalling Pakistan’s 2017 victory, Sarfaraz Ahmed expressed his excitement about being part of the event as an ambassador.
“I will never forget how special it felt to lift the trophy as Pakistan’s captain while wearing the white jacket. Watching the nation celebrate with us will always hold a special place in my heart,” Sarfaraz said.
He further stated, “I am thrilled to see this tournament return and to witness my country hosting such a significant event.”
Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan, who was the Player of the Series in India’s 2013 title-winning campaign, highlighted the competitive nature of the tournament.
“A single mistake can eliminate a team, making it a thrilling event,” he said.
New Zealand’s fast bowler Tim Southee emphasized the intensity of the competition, stating, “As a player, you realize that in the Champions Trophy, every game, every ball, and every moment is crucial.”
Two-time Champions Trophy winner Shane Watson added, “The Champions Trophy has always been a unique event, offering unforgettable moments. With the top eight teams competing, we are set for three weeks of thrilling, do-or-die cricket.”
The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 will begin on February 19, with the opening match featuring host Pakistan against New Zealand.
