Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not yet received an official invitation to attend the upcoming G7 Summit scheduled to be held in Canada this month, raising the possibility that he may miss the global event for the first time in six years.
The G7 Summit, hosted by Canada, is set to take place from June 15 to 17, 2025, and will feature leaders of the world’s major economies.
According to Indian media, sources close to the Modi administration suggest that even if an invitation is extended, the Prime Minister’s participation remains uncertain, especially at a time when India is unsure whether Canada’s new government will seriously consider its concerns over the Khalistan movement.
Meanwhile, both the Canadian government and G7 Summit spokespersons have neither confirmed nor denied whether Modi has been invited.
This development could further strain the already tense diplomatic relations between India and Canada, particularly due to differences over the Khalistan issue.
