In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district, a local political leader’s vehicle was targeted with an improvised explosive device (IED) on Sunday evening, resulting in one fatality and three injuries, while reports confirm that three attackers were killed in retaliation. Fortunately, the political leader remained unharmed.
According to the spokesperson of the Regional Police Officer of Bannu Region, Khanzala Qureshi, Inamullah Ahmadzai, Chairman of the Betani Qaumi Tehreek, was returning from a weekly peace rally in the Pal Ahmadzai area when his vehicle was targeted with an IED placed on the Tajori Road.
Police confirmed that Inamullah was unharmed in the attack. However, initial reports indicate that one person was killed and three others injured. The spokesperson also confirmed that Inamullah’s convoy immediately retaliated, killing three terrorists in the exchange.
Inamullah also released a video message from the scene, in which gunfire can be heard in the background. In the video, he urged the public to come out of their homes and stand for peace, claiming that his companions had eliminated three terrorists.
A police team has been dispatched to the scene, and according to the spokesperson, a complete investigation and detailed report will be released later. The incident has once again highlighted security concerns in the region.
