Typhoon “Koinu” has made landfall along the coast of Shanghai, China’s major economic hub, prompting emergency measures across the city. Due to strong winds and intense rainfall, daily life has been severely disrupted, forcing the evacuation of over 280,000 residents from coastal areas to safer locations.
The city has suspended all train services and canceled hundreds of flights, causing major disruption to transportation. Power supply interruptions and waterlogging in low-lying areas have further worsened the situation.
Meanwhile, in Beijing and surrounding regions, heavy storm-related rains have caused fatal incidents, raising the death toll to 34. Rescue and relief operations continue in the affected zones.
According to reports, Typhoon Koinu is being described as the most powerful storm to strike Shanghai since 1949, prompting large-scale evacuations and the implementation of emergency protocols.
