Several cities across interior Sindh were battered by heavy downpours on Thursday night and Friday morning, leaving low-lying areas submerged and disrupting both electricity and communication systems. The rains, accompanied by strong winds in some areas, brought relief from intense heat but also left residents struggling with widespread outages and flooding.
In Tando Muhammad Khan, heavy rain coupled with gusty winds inundated low-lying neighborhoods, forcing residents to wade through standing water. HESCO cut off the power supply in multiple areas as a precautionary measure, plunging the city into darkness and compounding the hardships of residents.
In Hyderabad and its surrounding towns, intermittent spells of light and heavy rain continued throughout the day. Entire neighborhoods were left without electricity as feeders tripped, while residents complained of disrupted daily routines despite the cooler weather that followed.
Rohri also witnessed persistent rainfall, which led to a complete suspension of electricity across the city. Locals reported that every spell of rain is immediately followed by prolonged outages, leaving them frustrated and helpless.
In Padidan, strong winds followed by heavy rain broke the heat and humidity, but six feeders tripped, cutting off electricity to the town and nearby villages, according to WAPDA sources.
Larkana and adjoining areas experienced thunderstorms and heavy showers that inundated low-lying neighborhoods. Electricity supplies were cut off, though residents admitted the downpour provided some respite from weeks of scorching heat.
Meanwhile, in Naushahro Feroze, light showers cooled the weather and ended the spell of humidity, while in Johi, a dust storm preceded the rainfall, which later caused a complete power shutdown across the city.
While the rains have turned the weather pleasant across Sindh, the combination of power cuts, flooded streets, and disrupted communication networks has left thousands of residents grappling with difficulties.
