Karachi Police has dismissed reports of protests in the city as baseless rumors and urged citizens to remain calm and avoid paying attention to false information.
According to police officials, in response to calls for protests by a religious group, heavy contingents of police have been deployed at various key locations across the city. Officials clarified that no sit-ins or demonstrations are currently taking place, and Section 144 is in effect, prohibiting any gatherings or protests.
Police stated that they are fully prepared to handle any situation and warned that strict action will be taken against anyone violating Section 144. Authorities also noted that false information is being spread through different channels, and citizens should not believe such rumors.
In New Karachi, a small group attempted to stage a protest, but police swiftly dispersed them and arrested 10 individuals involved in the disturbance. The protest by the religious group near Sindhi Hotel in New Karachi has also ended, and the area has returned to normal. Roads have been reopened to traffic, and law and order is fully under control.
