The Punjab government has intensified its emergency measures to combat worsening air quality across Lahore. Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb stated that the city is experiencing increased pollution levels due to falling temperatures and weakened wind patterns, prompting authorities to take stricter and more immediate action.
According to the minister, the Anti-Smog Field Force has been assigned additional personnel and directed to carry out rapid on-ground operations. The Environment Department has also increased late-night inspections in industrial zones, sealing several factories found emitting hazardous smoke.
Maryam Aurangzeb further shared that a special coordination cell has been activated to reduce the flow of pollutants from the north-western industrial belt. Meanwhile, traffic police have initiated special anti-smog deployments during rush hours to manage vehicular emissions more effectively.
She emphasized that these enhanced measures aim to stabilize air quality and protect public health as Lahore continues to face persistent smog conditions.
