President Asif Ali Zardari has directed the government to prioritize public relief in economic policies and to keep the burden of petroleum product prices as low as possible to provide maximum ease to the common man.
The President met with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and other federal ministers, during which the law and order situation and overall economic conditions of the country were discussed in detail.
On the occasion, the President stressed that providing relief to the public is a fundamental responsibility of the government in light of current economic challenges, and measures should be taken to reduce the impact of inflation.
He further directed that public interest should be kept in focus while determining petroleum prices, and policy-making should aim to facilitate citizens to the greatest extent possible.
