ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has ordered the State Bank of Pakistan to release Rs. 21 billion for the upcoming elections and has also directed the governor of the State Bank to submit a report by Monday.
In Punjab, Chief Justice presided over a hearing in the Supreme Court today regarding the issue of funds for elections. The case was heard by Justice Ajazul Hassan and Justice Munib Akhtar under the leadership of the Chief Justice.
The Attorney General, Secretary Election Commission, Ministry of Finance, and State Bank officials were present in the chamber. Special Secretary Finance and Additional Secretary Finance also appeared before the 3-member bench. Relevant documents were submitted during the hearing by the Ministry of Finance, Election Commission, and State Bank officials.
