Islamabad: Despite the Supreme Court’s order, the National Assembly has once again rejected a request to provide Rs. 21 billion to the Election Commission for elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A supplementary grant of Rs. 21 billion was proposed in the house, but the majority rejected the motion.
The Law Minister stated that two judges had recused themselves from the cases initiated through suo motu notices, while four judges dismissed the petition. Despite the financial difficulties, a decision was made to hold elections to please one person.
Azam Nazir Tarar stated that the National Assembly had agreed to hold elections across the country on the same day. The Supreme Court had ordered the State Bank to release funds from consolidated funds. Today, the standing committee on finance discussed the matter. The federal cabinet and standing committee have referred the matter to the house because it is the house’s prerogative.
