After the introduction of a new charging system from China, electric bus operations on two routes in Karachi have resumed today. A few weeks after their launch in April 2023, the charging system of these buses had encountered a malfunction.
According to Sindh’s Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, while addressing a press conference in Karachi, informed the public that assistance will be provided in reinstating the operations of 15 electric buses after the arrival of the new charging system.
Sources familiar with the matter revealed that the services of electric buses on two routes were halted approximately two months ago due to charger malfunctions.
The Transport Minister of Sindh mentioned that the chargers for electric buses have arrived, and these buses will now resume their operations starting tomorrow.
He stated that the Sindh government is taking continuous steps to provide the citizens with the best travel facilities, and in this regard, more buses will reach Karachi tomorrow. This initiative is being carried out on the directives of the Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and the Chief Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah. The Sindh government is determined to increase the number of buses for the improvement of transportation facilities in the city, and as per their instructions, new buses will soon replace the old ones.
