A plan by Lesco to charge fake detection bills for surprising overbilling worth billions in electricity bills has come to light.
According to Lesco sources, it has been revealed that bogus detection bills will be charged on the credits received in bills. In the case of overbilling, unauthorized bills will be charged at an astonishing rate of 50% on refund bills.
Lesco has decided to financially burden commercial and industrial consumers. Lesco has prepared a plan to charge large commercial and industrial consumers with fake detection bills.
It is worth noting that charging fake detection bills by Lesco will be equivalent to overbilling. The amounts of crores of rupees credited on consumers’ bills will be reduced. By charging bogus detection bills on credited bills, the company will gain additional units, resulting in increased line losses and a 100% recovery rate.
Sources indicate that a plan has also been made to charge detection bills to dead defaulters in several Lesco divisions. The company registered false cases against dead defaulters during the anti-electricity theft campaign. The accounts of dead defaulters will be reopened in the system, and bogus detection bills will be charged. Once the billing cycle closes, the reopened accounts will be disconnected from the system again.
