Islamabad: The prices of petroleum products in the country are expected to rise further from December 16.
According to details, the global market has recorded an increase in the prices of American crude oil and British Brent crude oil. Over ten days, the cost of American crude oil has increased by 63 cents, with trading currently at $68.05 per barrel in the global market.
The price of British Brent crude oil has risen by 73 cents, trading now at $71.85 per barrel. On December 15, the prices of petroleum products in the country will be adjusted, and the government will make a final decision on the summary sent by OGRA.
Meanwhile, a complete ban has been imposed on bringing commercial quantities of goods from abroad. Individuals will be allowed to bring only one mobile phone for personal use.
The FBR has issued a notification regarding amendments to the baggage scheme. According to the FBR, a draft for further amendments to the 2006 baggage rules has been issued, and recommendations can be submitted within seven days.
The FBR clarified that suggestions and opinions received after the stipulated deadline will not be accepted. According to the notification, under the amended baggage scheme, goods worth more than $1,200 will be considered commercial trade.
Only one mobile phone for personal use will be allowed to bring from abroad, while any additional mobile phones will be confiscated. Under the amended baggage scheme, additional items will not be cleared, even after paying duty, taxes, and penalties.
