Yesterday, a rain system entered the Sindh province of Pakistan, due to which several areas experienced thunderstorm showers, while the Larkana district broke previous rainfall records for the month of May.
According to weather expert Jawad Memon, the rain spell that entered Sindh yesterday may once again cause widespread thunderclouds to develop today, potentially affecting 70 to 80 percent of Sindh, especially southeastern Sindh, Hyderabad, and Mirpurkhas divisions.
Jawad Memon stated that dust and cool winds were observed in several areas of Karachi last night, and some northern parts experienced drizzle. “By late afternoon today, there is a strong possibility of thundercloud formation in the northern and northeastern suburban areas,” he said.
Weather experts noted that ground instability is showing favorable signs, suggesting that thunderstorm clouds could impact different parts of Karachi by evening or night. However, today’s rain will depend on the direction and intensity of these clouds.
It is worth mentioning that Karachi is currently experiencing intense heat, with temperatures hovering around 40°C. The Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms with rain for the city, stating that the western wind system affecting Karachi is expected to persist until May 10.
